Obituary for Gary Leon Miller

Gary Leon Miller, age 61, of Portland, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Wilmer and Edna (Smith) Miller. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid U of M fan. Most of all, Gary enjoyed the company of his family. He loved to make others laugh and was quite the jokester.

Preceding Gary in death are his parents; brothers, Ronald, David, and Joseph Miller; step-father, Art Fernholz; mother and father-in-law, Bernard and Eleanor McConnell; brothers-in-law, Larry Keilen, Shawn McConnell, and Steve Grosshans; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Miller and Theresa McConnell. Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Jean Miller; sons, Chad (Randy) Miller, Corey Miller, and Kyle (Anna) Miller; grandchildren: Kelsey, Skyler, Corilayna, Katelyn, Cohyn, Gavin, Katelynn, and Lacie; siblings, Jim Miller, Peg Keilen, Alice (Rich) Bengel, Jerry (Elaine) Miller, Mary (Jack) Sandborn, Chuck (Toni) Miller, Kathy (David) Walker, Junior (Ann) Miller, and Joann (Matt) Anthony; brother-in-law, Darin McConnell; sisters-in-law, Patty (Randy) Davidson, Kathy (Randall) Ackerman, Anne Grosshans, and Colleen McConnell; and many, special nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Beckett at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
