Obituary for Felix C. Hernandez, Jr.
Felix C. Hernandez, Jr., 91, of Portland, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Felix and Maria Luisa (Castro) Hernandez, Sr. Felix was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and he served in the U.S. Army. Felix was employed at General Motors for 38 years until his retirement. Felix enjoyed fishing and wood working, but most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Felix in death are his beloved wife of 53 years, Minerva “Minnie”; his parents; and several brothers and sisters. Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Mary Jane (Ken) Hoppes of Portland, Sylvia (Tom) Moore of Riverview, Florida, and Felix (Patricia) Hernandez, III of Kentucky; granddaughters, Desiree (Doyce) Holley and Jessica (Rob) Latva; great-grandchildren, Dylan Holley, Adriana Holley, Jameson Latva, and Jaxson Latva; siblings, Roy (Sara) Hernandez, Virginia Luna, Carlos (Rose) Hernandez, Gloria (Dave) Borton; brother-in-law, Rafael Sandoval; and special friends, Laura and Barney Linebaugh and Judy Huhn.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sparrow Hospice for the wonderful care they took of Felix.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland with the rosary being prayed at 3:30 p.m. For those wishing, contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice in memory of Felix.
