Obituary for Douglas Dean Staines

Douglas was a lot to many people. Most importantly he was a husband, a father and son, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and soon to be great-grandfather. Doug was born November 8, 1946. He liked to spend his days working on his John Deere Tractors, bugging his wife, playing jokes on his grandchildren, and saying he doesn’t want another pet and then feeding them from his hand. Douglas served the country in the Vietnam War during the years of 1966-1967. He left being decorated in a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Marksmen (Rifle). Douglas was always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone. He was kind, funny, the guy everyone came to if they needed advice or something fixed, and he was all too well known to be a stubborn bull, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. Douglas is survived by his wife, Katherine (May) Staines, daughters, Shannon Staines and Dawn Parish (Jim Smith). His grandchildren, Emily (Parras) Baisden (David), Elizabeth (Parish) Baker (Brandon), Tabitha Parish, William Parish, and Jamie Smith, as well as his soon to be great-granddaughter, Selina Baisden. Doug is also survived by his sister, Julie Peters and Chuck, and countless nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosemary (Kimball) Staines, son-in-law, Alexander Parras, and beloved pets Molly and Bear.
