Obituary for Constance "Connie" Louise Mallek-Fedewa

Constance (Connie) Louise Mallek-Fedewa, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 6, 2026. She was born Constance Louise Dembowski on October 13, 1944, in Lansing, Michigan. Devoted to God and family, Connie was always ready to help anyone in need. She was famous for her incredible desserts, especially her cinnamon rolls and pies, and for leading the family in heartfelt prayers, which she wrote herself and delivered beautifully before holiday meals.
Connie grew up in Lansing and attended St. Mary’s High School. In 1964, she married Edward Mallek, and together they raised four children. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, she worked as a lunchroom cook for Portland Public Schools, from which she later retired. Connie and Ed shared 46 years of marriage until Ed’s death in 2010.
Through their shared faith and worship at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Connie found love again with Raymond Fedewa, and they were married in 2015. Together, they cherished their faith and their extended families, often traveling to visit Mallek and Fedewa relatives alike.
Connie is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 11 years, Raymond Fedewa, and her four loving children: Katrina (Jeff) Kalo of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Denise (Jerry) Johnson of Westlake, Texas; Edward (Nikki) Mallek II of Fairbanks, Alaska; and Damon (Wendy) Mallek of Portland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jessica (Martin) Jarmond, Sarah Johnson, Katherine (Ben) Beard, Jennifer (Mitch) VanBriesen, Danelle (Brandon) Foor, Elizabeth (Caleb) Snyder, and Mitchell (Kalyn) Mallek; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Mallek; her brother, Richard Dembowski; and her parents, Henry and Louise Dembowski.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Logan Weber presiding. The Rite of Committal will take place at Portland Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at VFW Post 4090. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, where the rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Online condolences may be shared at www.lehmanfumeralhomes.com.
