Obituary for Calvin LaRoy Miller

The family of Calvin “Cubby” LaRoy Miller, a life long resident of Portland, MI, is sadden to announce his passing on Thursday, October 5 2023 at the age of 83.

His greatest love was his home, yard, and his birds, especially his buzzards! He had a special one he watched that he named “no tail” that returned every spring for the last 24 years! Cal enjoyed raising monarch butterflies and released over 900 of them in one summer! He enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing and especially fighting carp at the dam that he brought home to feed his buzzards!

He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his wife Carol, daughters, Karla Miller and Kyleen Swindlehurst both of Portland, son, Kurt Miller of Orleans and his step son’s Tim (Michelle) Partridge of Saint Johns and Tod Partridge of Portland. He was greatly loved and deeply missed by his 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He has a sister, Yvonne Franks of Portland and was proceeded in death by son, Kevin, 3 sisters, Brenda, Lovica and Sharon and a brother, Onie (Katie) Miller.

There will be a private ceremony for family and close friends. Any donations or contributions can be made to McLaren Hospice of Lansing.
