Bruce Adelbert Fletcher, 62, of Clarksville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on October 20, 2026. Bruce was born on January 7, 1964, the son of Donald and Verona (Midge) Fletcher. He grew up in DeWitt as part of a large family surrounded by the love of his siblings, with whom he shared many cherished memories. He learned early on the value of family ties, hard work, good friends, and a job done right.

A printer by trade, Bruce had a gift for fixing things. He loved working on cars and lawnmowers and could often be found in the garage, happily tinkering away for hours. But his talents were never kept to himself. Bruce was the kind of neighbor everyone hopes to have and the kind of friend who showed up without being asked. Whenever someone needed a hand, he was there and willing to give everything he had to help.

Above all, Bruce’s family was his pride and joy. He loved his wife and children with his whole heart, and his two grandchildren held a very special place in his life. Some of his happiest moments came when he was spending quality time with his sons, taking in quiet evenings at home with his family, watching his grandchildren play, caring for his dogs, and heading out to Pilot for coffee and a few hands of euchre with his pals.

No story of Bruce would be complete without Chip Kiebler, his lifelong best friend. Bruce and Chip shared a brotherly bond, which they maintained through the years by seeing each other often and calling each other daily just to talk about life.

Bruce was always quick with a warm smile and a joke, and he found joy in the simple things in life: a good day’s work, time with family, and the company of good friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and remembered for his kindness, his willing hands, and his generous spirit.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Woody Fletcher; sister Kathy Rogers; brother-in-law Rod Rogers; and sister-in-law Chris Wilcox. Surviving are his wife, Lynn; children CharLynn Markwart, Carmelle (Brandon) Schantz, Jonathon and Andrew Fletcher; grandchildren, Otis and Etta Schantz; best friend, Chip Kiebler; brothers, Harry (Catherine) Fletcher, Larry (Terri) Puffenberger, Donnie Fletcher, and Durwood (Lisa) Fletcher; father-in-law, Jack Wilcox; mother-in-law, Janet Wilcox; brothers-in-law, Pat Wilcox and Keith (Laura) Wilcox; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at the Portland Cemetery on November 7, 2026. A public celebration of life will take place November 8, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Portland V.F.W. Both services will be presided over by family friend Brian Young, who was like a son to Bruce. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross in memory of Bruce, and envelopes will also be available at the celebration of life to donate to help adopt a local family in need for Christmas in honor of Bruce.
