Obituary for Alice Jean (Hoppes) Kelly

Alice Jean Kelly, age 88, of Portland, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. She was born on March 6,1933 the daughter of Leo and Philomena (Huhn) Hoppes. Alice was a member of St. Patrick Church, she enjoyed playing cards, quilting/crocheting, going to the casino, playing the organ, playing bingo, and fishing with her husband, Dick. She always looked forward to Friday’s at the V.F.W. (after starting at Eagle Inn) and loved spending time with her family.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick in 1991; infant son, Ian; siblings, Virginia (Oscar) Townsend, Colleen (William) Trierweiler, Dick (Carol) Hoppes, Stanley (Joan) Hoppes, Leon (Geraldine) Hoppes, Jerry (Mary) Hoppes, and Jim (Sharon) Hoppes, and in-laws, Alice Hoppes and Dariel (Pearl) Heintzelman; She is survived by her children, Maureen (Harry) Farissier, Collin (Keli) Kelly, Kim (Kris) Shattuck and Laurie (Bob) Pung; grandchildren, Harry, Brittany, Erika, Cara, Riley, Ford, Shawna, Maverick, Austin, Allison, Kendall, Paige and Gillian; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Ian, Collin, Briar, Bailey, Ensley, Conner, Ulysses and Minnow; siblings, Joe Hoppes, Larry (Dee Dee) Hoppes and Tom (Jill) Hoppes; and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.
