Local Volleyball program continues to grow
Core Michigan Athletics is a small volleyball club started out of Portland MI about 3 years ago to give players in the area a higher level of training, with more tournament opportunities, at a lower cost.
Volley On The Grand, grass volleyball tournament, was an opportunity fundraise for area volleyball, while giving kids and adults the opportunity to play competitive volleyball over the summer. The hope is to bring high level volleyball to the area, that will generate a love and interest to the sport.
Judging from our first year turnout and chatter around the tri-state volleyball community, next years 2nd annual May double in size, bringing even more competitive youth, college, professional, and semi professional volleyball players.
We rely on sponsors and we were so grateful to have two Portland businesses (Portland Family Chiropractic and Journey Nutrition Sponsor) take a chance and sponsor us this year. Post event we have had several businesses reach out to us in order to sponsor next year. Sponsors will help to make next years Volley On The Grand event even better.
We were also thankful to have Maria’s Tacos Catering and Got Smoke BBQ Events and Catering join the fun. They completely ran out of food and should be joining us again next year.
Next years expected tournament date is July 15th and will be posted on our Facebook page as this information becomes available.
