Autumn at the library can be a relaxing time of year… until someone turns up dead. In another classic case of whodunit, Murder in The Stacks is back at the Portland District Library! This all-ages, month-long murder mystery program will have you searching the library for clues, unlocking suspect interview videos, and collecting evidence. There are key witnesses and multiple suspects, but someone is lying. Do you have what it takes to figure out who? Put on your thinking caps and head to the library starting Friday, November 3. Patrons will have until Saturday, December 2 to collect their evidence and take a guess at who committed the crime and why. One lucky sleuthing team will go home with a grand prize fit for only the best detectives!

3D Printing for Absolute Beginners

Are you curious about 3D printing, but can’t tell a filament from file cabinet? On Wednesday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m. we will be covering the very fundamentals of 3D printing. No complicated design techniques, no technical jargon, just learning the steps needed to find and submit a 3D print job at the library. Ages 12 and up, registration is required.

Frosty Holiday Cards

The holiday season and frosty weather go hand-in-hand, and now you can bring a frosted look to your holiday greetings. Using pearlescent watercolors and black cardstock, we will be creating festive cards for you to share. This in-person program will take place on November 29 at 6:00 p.m. Ages 15 and up, registration is required.

Teen Advisory Board November Meeting

What is better than coming to a Teen Advisory Board meeting and planning the Teen Lock-In? Coming to the T.A.B. meeting, planning the Teen Lock-In, and EATING DONUTS! Let your voice be heard and have a donut, or two, on us! The Teen Advisory Board is open for all teens, ages 13-18. Join the fun Saturday, November 18 in the Community Room from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sign up at the Youth Desk, if you are not already a member!

Create Your Holiday: Middles Edition

Can you ever have too many magnets on your refrigerator? We didn't think so, and so we are going to make some to gift during Create Your Holiday: Middles Edition. We'll supply everything you need to make the magnets, and you put your creative spin on them to make little pieces of art perfect for gift giving! Pick up your Create Your Holiday: Middles Edition Take-and-Make bag beginning Friday, November 10 at the Youth Desk. This program is recommended for ages 6-12, requires parental supervision, and is limited to 35 patrons.

Books & Blankets November

Robots are taking over the Children’s Sensory Garden during Books & Blankets on Thursday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m. Bring a blanket to sit on and get ready to help our robots sing a noisy alphabet! Everyone will their very own robot to take home, along with a book from our friends at the Ionia Great Start Collaborative. This program is recommended for families with children ages 8 & under. Registration is required!
