The Shamrocks traveled to PW for a CMAC doubleheader Thursday evening. The Shamrocks took two losses from the Pirates.
In Game one, the Shamrocks fell 8-4. Mattie Honsowitz pitched game with 7 strikeouts and several of those strikeouts left runners in scoring position. She also ended the game with only four of the runs being earned. At the plate, Lily Sandborn went 2-3 with a RBI. Bella Russman went 2-3 with a RBI. Gracelyn Rockey and Marian Davlin each had an RBI. Macie Leonard and Megan Myers each had a double.
In game two, the Shamrocks fell 10-1 after a five run seventh inning. Kennedy Drake pitched 6 2/3 innings and held the Pirates to 4 ER. At the plate, Mattie Honsowitz went 1-2 with a double, and Megan Myers went 1-2.
“This evening was filled with highs and lows for the team. Our pitching staff did a great job and we made some defensive plays that were excellent. Marian caught a shoestring line drive that saved two runs, and Gracelyn and Lily held a tight left side in game two. Macie S. and Mattie were effective at first base and Megan caught a great game as well. At the plate, we timed out their pitching and made contact but couldn’t sequence enough hits together. We also made fielding errors, poor base running decisions, and mental errors we haven’t seen this year and are looking to put those behind us so we can move forward to cleaning those up and continuing to grow together.”
The Shamrocks will play in the Jack Anderson tournament at PHS on Saturday and look forward to day of quality competition.
