Lady Raiders finish league play undefeated

On Monday night, the Portland High School girls basketball team hosted the Bulldogs of Ionia for Portland’s final CAAC White Conference contest of the season.


Portland jumped out to a 20-5 first quarter lead, and the Lady Raiders never looked back.


With a 47-24 win, the Lady Raiders finished their conference schedule with a perfect 7-0 record, and with sole possession of the CAAC White Championship.


Portland was led by junior Ashley Bower with 23 points. Senior Ava Gruber and junior Ava Guilford each scored eight points.


Ionia was led by senior Sara Bevington with nine points.

1st – 2nd – 3rd – 4th – Final

Portland 20 – 10 – 13 – 4 – 47

Ionia 5 – 2 – 6 – 11 – 24


While all of Monday night’s score are not yet in as of this posting, the MHSAA website shows the final CAAC records as:

Team Conference Overall

Portland 7-0 13-2

Charlotte 3-1 6-3

Lansing Catholic 3-2 10-3

Ionia 2-5 5-9

Eaton Rapids 0-7 2-10


The Lady Raiders next scheduled contest is on Saturday when they host Lowell (5-9).
