Lady Raiders fall to Grand Ledge in “Coaches vs Cancer” Game

The Portland High School girls basketball team traveled to Grand Ledge on Tuesday night to face the Comets in a “Coaches vs Cancer” contest. Despite holding a 21-12 halftime lead, the Raiders fell to the Comets 40-25.
Both teams sported custom cancer awareness jerseys for the event, with the jersey backs featuring the name of a friend of loved one who is battling or battled cancer.
Proceeds from the event went to the American Cancer Society.
Grand Ledge was led offensively by senior Ava Scanlon who scored 15 points. Junior Alayna Armstrong added 11 points.
Portland was led by freshman Lilly Thelen with 12 points, and junior Malia Thelen with seven points.
The Raiders move to 7-5 overall. They will host CAAC White rival Lansing Catholic on Friday night. The Cougars are currently 7-4 overall, 3-0 in the CAAC White.
