Lady Raiders defeat St. Johns

On Tuesday night, the Portland High School girls basketball team returned from their holiday break and hosted the Redwings of St. Johns.


The Portland squad had a strong performance and won the game 57-42.


Portland was led offensively by junior guard Malia Thelen with 19 points, freshman guard Lilly Thelen with 17 points, and freshman Summer Stopcynski who scored nine points.


St. Johns was led by sophomore forward Taylor Cook with 12 points and junior guard Isabel Thelen with 11 points.


With the win, Portland moves to 6-2 overall. Their next contest is on Friday night when they host the Bulldogs of Ionia. Ionia is currently 3-4 overall, 1-1 in the CAAC White.
