Lady Raider Softball picks up two wins over Thornapple Kellogg
The Portland High School softball team hosted the Trojans of Thornapple Kellogg on Thursday night. The Raiders won both contests decisively.
Game 1: Portland 18, Thornapple Kellogg 3
The Portland bats were hot in the first contest, of the evening, tallying 18 runs in just three innings.
Freshman Bella Spitzley led the Raiders offensively going three for three at bat including a triple. Sophomore Bailey Fish had two hits, while freshman Lilly Thelen, junior Jayden Townsend, freshman Claire Lyon and sophomore Autumn Reffitt each had one hit.
Townsend pitched the first game striking out one and allowing just three hits.
Game 2: Portland 12, Thornapple Kellogg 0
Portland won the second contest in five innings.
Spitzley was in the circle for Portland, striking out one and allowing just three hits.
Thelen (triple) and Reffitt (double) each had three hits in the second game. Freshman Rylee Miller, sophomore Gillian Pung, Fish (double), Townsend (triple) and Spitzley each had one hit.
Ahead
The Raiders will be at home on Saturday with game times at 10:00, 12:00 and 2:30. Holt, Ovid-Elsie and Petoskey will be included in the tournament field.
