Keusch Garage Now Part of Greatwater 360 Auto Care
For generations, Portlanders have been able to take their car to Keusch’s garage for repairs. The auto repair business has been a staple of the community since 1936. Over the years, the business has changed and at various times included towing services, used auto sales and even a gas station and convenience store. They also over the years expanded to a second location in Eagle. The location has changed from downtown to American Way Dr which expanded the property significantly from a two stall operation to one with a score of lifts and mechanics working to keep Portland running.
Recently, the Keusch family made a big change, selling their business to Greatwater 360 Auto Care. Greatwater, started with founder Rich Dykstra opening his first auto garage in 1984. From that one garage the business bloomed to include more than 90 locations across Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. Greatwater’s business model is a bit different than you might expect in today’s age of corporate buyouts and cookie cutter franchise models. While Greatwater purchases local shops, the shop maintains its name, staff and services. According to Keusch Super Service staff Greatwater takes over the business side of things allowing staff to focus on the work of car repair and maintenance.
That also means more support for management and organization like technology upgrades to computer and billing systems. So next time you stop by Keusch’s for auto service you might notice a few different logos on your mechanic’s shirt or your invoice, but the service you receive will be the same!
