Homeworks Tri-County Electric Cooperative Acquires VEI’s Cable System in Nashville and Vermontville, Expanding Fiber Internet Service Across Mid-Michigan

HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative has announced the acquisition of VEI’s cable system in Nashville and Vermontville, marking another significant step in the not-for-profit cooperative's commitment to delivering reliable, locally supported broadband service to rural communities across mid-Michigan.

The acquired system includes 15 miles of cable in the neighboring villages of Nashville and Vermontville, passing just over 1,000 homes and businesses. HomeWorks will soon begin work to upgrade the coaxial cable to fiber and integrate the system into its HomeWorks Connect network, which currently serves 14,000 homes and businesses across rural mid-Michigan.

Over the coming months, VEI customers will have the opportunity to transition to HomeWorks Connect service. The cooperative is committed to making the transition as seamless as possible, while providing customers with the responsive, local customer support that has become a hallmark of the company.

HomeWorks plans to begin fiber construction in the area in September, with the goal of completing customer transfers by the end of 2026. The cooperative will host meet & greet events in the Nashville/Vermontville communities in the coming months, giving potential customers an opportunity to meet the HomeWorks team, ask questions about the transition, and discover more about the cooperative's commitment to the communities it serves.
