Fowler outlasts Lady Shamrocks

On Tuesday, March 16th the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to Fowler for a huge contest against the Eagles. Fowler jumped out hard, but the Shamrocks battled the whole way before falling 47-40.


In the first quarter, Fowler hit a couple of threes and took a 12-7 lead in the quarter. Lydia Meredith led the Shamrocks with 5 points.


The second quarter was more of the same, with the Eagles hitting their 3 pointers, and the Shamrocks shooting poorly from the field. Fowler extended their lead, winning the quarter 16-8, and taking a 28-15 halftime lead. Mara Schrauben led the Shamrocks with 4 points.


After halftime, the Shamrocks came out and surged hard, outscoring the Eagles 8-0 in the first 4 minutes of the quarter. The Shamrocks ended up winning the quarter 9-4, but the Eagles still had a 32-24 lead going into the final quarter. Lydia Meredith led the Shamrocks with 4 points.


In the fourth quarter, the Shamrocks battled hard and played great defense, but the Eagles were able to hit their free throws and hold on for the win. St. Patrick won the quarter 16-15, but lost the game 47-40. Lydia Meredith led the Shamrocks with 7 points.


Game leaders were Lydia Meredith who had 18 point 9 steal 8 rebounds and 5 assists, Mara Schrauben had 7 points 4 rebounds and 1 steal.


The Shamrocks play P-W home on Friday, March 19th.
