Fall Leaf Cleanup in Progress

The City of Portland is conducting free of charge leaf cleanup now until December 1.

Throughout the leaf season, the Department of Public Works is out daily picking up leaves, but not daily in every area of the city.

City officials ask that residents place leaves in long narrow rows next to the curb of the street. They ask that there be no limbs, branches, or other debris mixed into the leaves.

Another option for residents who do not wish to place loose leaves by the road is to place the leaves in paper yard waste bags and to set these bags by the curb.

Residents may also haul their own leaves to the compost pile at the Bogue Flats behind the horse arena.

The city reminds residents that burning leaves within the city limits is prohibited by city ordinance.

After December 1, the city will pick up leaves only if they have been placed in paper yard waste bags.

Further reading on this subject is available on the city website.
