Consumers Energy to start gas line work on Kent Street January 8th
BEGINNING MONDAY JAN. 8, 2024 CONSUMERS ENERGY WILL BEGIN REPLACING GAS LINES ON THE 100 BLOCK OF KENT ST.
In anticipation of the Kent Street Reconstruction Project scheduled to begin this spring, Consumers Energy will begin gas line replacement the week of Monday, January 8, 2024. The project is anticipated to last 4-6 weeks, depending on weather, etc. The angled parking on the west side of the 100 block of Kent Street will be blocked off during this project, with possible traffic slowdowns. The existing gas main (and associated service lines) for the 100 block is outdated and is being replaced to protect against damage from vibration during road and utility construction and to hopefully avoid the need to cut into the new road in the next few years. It is necessary to perform this work prior to road and utility construction (slated to start in April, updates to follow) to avoid conflicts during construction.
