Chelsea proves too much for Lady Raiders

The Portland High School girls basketball team traveled to Chelsea on Tuesday night to face the Bulldogs. Chelsea would defeat Portland 64-27.


Portland was led offensively by freshman Summer Stopcynski with seven points. Junior Ella Gruber and sophomore Paige Spedoske each added five points.


Chelsea was led by junior Leila Wells with 17 points and junior Ella Day with 16 points.


Scoring summary by quarter:

1st – 2nd – 3rd – 4th – Final

Portland 2 – 7 – 7 – 11 – 27

Chelsea 24 – 17 – 11 – 12 – 64


Portland’s record moves to 3-2 overall, 1-0 in the CAAC White. On Friday they travel to Charlotte for a league contest. The Orioles are 3-4 overall, 1-0 in the CAAC White.
