Both Raider Basketball teams fall to Lansing Catholic
On Friday night, both the boys and girls Portland High School varsity basketball teams hosted the Cougars of Lansing Catholic in CAAC White contests.
In the first contest, the Raider boys were defeated 49-37.
The Cougars were led by senior Jack Jacobs with 11 points, and senior Dean Jacobs who scored eight points.
The Raiders were led offensively by sophomore guard Evan Gross who scored 12 points. Sophomore guard Dominic Novara, freshman forward Kayden Dickerson, and sophomore Christopher Battley added six points each. Senior guard Marc Nobis added five points, and junior center Danton Marowelli added two points.

The Raider boys move to 4-6 overall, 1-4 in the CAAC White. Next week host Saranac (1-7 overall) on Monday, and then travel to Eaton Rapids (0-10, 0-5 CAAC White) on Friday.
In the second contest, the Lady Raiders were defeated 64-41.
The Cougars were led offensively by senior Hannah Pricco with 17 points and junior Leah Richards with 12 points.
The Portland offense was led by junior guard Malia Thelen with 14 points. Freshman guard Lily Thelen added 13 points. Sophomore Paige Spedoske scored six points.

The Lady Raiders are now 7-6 overall, 3-1 in the CAAC White. They will travel to Eaton Rapids (4-9 overall, 1-3 CAAC White) on Friday in their only contest for the week.
