After a solid 2024 season, that made it to the Regional Final game, the Shamrocks are hoping for even more success in 2025.
With 19 players in the program, the Shamrocks are fielding both a Varsity, and JV squad, which will be a challenge throughout the season, but it is nothing new for St. Patrick. Coach Jocelyn Droste is excited to have a majority of the players family with the program, and rely heavily on that experience to lead the team. "After losing a very talented group of seniors last year, we are transitioning to filling those vacancies in our lineup. The returning starters that will contribute to leading our team include Mattie Honsowitz, who missed last season due to a basketball injury and was in rehab. We are proud of her off season work, and the extra things she has done to ensure she is stronger than ever. We are also returning Gracelyn Rockey, Bella Russman, Lily Sandborn, and Megan Myers."
Prospects for the season are the same every year. "Our goals for the program typically don't change from year to year because they are focus and performance driven markers. Our first team goal is focused on finishing high in our league, which is always a challenging task with our CMAC competition. Wed also consistently talk about growing at little things throughout the season. We have put in work almost every week in the off-season and the girls are embracing this year's task list to get where we want to be by the end of the season to compete in our district."
Players to watch include Mattie Honsowitz, who should be one of the top pitchers in the league. Gracelyn and Lily offer a very strong lead off combination, and Bella, Megan, Naomi and several other girls should really add to the Shamrock offensive lineup.
The Shamrocks host Ionia on Wednesday, March 26th, and will also host Webberville on March 31st- weather permitting.
