Almost 100 Freedom Acres students recently received balloons delivered to them at home. The balloons were donated by retired Portland teacher Deb Seal, who has come out of retirement to work part time at Freedom Acres.

The balloons were delivered to students all over Ionia County, including Portland. They were delivered by past Portland teacher Angie Miller, who is the Freedom Acres principal, and Amy Bagnasco who is the Crisis Prevention teacher

According to the Ionia County Intermediate School District website, “Freedom Acres School is a center-based facility built in 1979 and operated by the Ionia County Intermediate School District. It provides educational services to students from the county’s five local districts including Ionia, Belding, Lakewood, Portland, and Saranac. Freedom Acres offers programs for students with severe cognitive impairments, moderate cognitive impairments, severe emotional impairments.”

The students range from three years old to 26 years old.
