Obituary for Richard Nelson Smith

Richard Nelson Smith, age 70, of Portland, passed away April 16, 2020. He was born June 20, 1949 in Falmouth, Michigan, the son of George and Elizabeth (Ziederveen) Smith. Richard was a faithful member of Mt. Hope Church in Portland and he also enjoyed golfing and bowling. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. Richard retired from Meijer Warehouse after 43 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Dale Ryan Hicks. Surviving are his beloved wife of 31 years, Patricia Smith; children, Brian Smith, Frank (Staci) Hicks, Blaine (Sherrie) Hicks, and Pam (Neal) Peterson; grandchildren, Megan Smith, Dominic Smith, Brianna Smith, Mariah Hicks, Deseray Jade White, and Kylee Robinson; great-granddaughter on the way, Rose Jackson; sister, Carole (Phillip) Agema; and brother, Gord (Julie) Smith.
