Raider Wrestling Event Summary Week of January 13th
Raider Wrestling recently learned a lesson about adversity. Things simply do not go as planned, we must adapt and persevere, and that is what the raider wrestlers did.
Last week the Raider Wrestlers traveled to Charlotte for some CAAC wrestling and lost 45-22 moving their record to 14-7 as a team. Coach Pulling summarized the event, “We came out flat, we didn’t get to our positions and struggled to adapt, so in the end we didn’t beat a competitive team. No big deal, what matters is how we show up in Ithaca.”
Despite battling snowy roads and a tough loss just days prior, the Raider Wrestlers “showed up” in Ithaca. In a landslide tournament win against 12 other teams, the Raider Wrestlers placed all 14 wrestlers and had 3 champions: Caiden Pelc (125), Jared Thelen (140), and Dillon Vroman (171). This dominant performance tallied 191 team points good for 1st place by over 50 team points. Afterwards, Coach Pulling noted, “We had fun today and it resulted in a good tournament finish, but more importantly we overcame some adversity this week. Today showed us we have quite a bit of learning to do, but we can persevere in great fashion as long as we have fun and operate as a group with a shared and focused goal.”
Catch the Raider Wrestlers at home on Wednesday, January 29th against Eaton Rapids and at the Wagon Wheel on Tuesday, February 4th from 4:30-9p for their 20% fundraiser night.
