Obituary for Lee Edward Black

Lee Edward Black left for heaven on December 26, 2019 after a valiant battle against cancer. Lee was born January 20, 1932, in Willard, Ohio to Ray and Gladys Black. He was the beloved little brother of Raym and adored big brother of Joyce and Jimmy. He was married to the love of his life, Phyllis Marie, for 69 years; precious Dad to Debbie Dawn; and Papa to Layne Mikel and Jed Chandler.

Lee was brilliant, caring, kind and brave. He was a selfless and generous man who always put others before himself. He had the most beautiful blue eyes and charming smile that flashed often, as he loved to tease and laugh. Lee was an avid reader and runner and he also spent many hours in his barn creating unique woodwork. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a logistician for the Department of Defense before retiring to enjoy time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Raymond and sister, Joyce. He is survived by Phyllis, daughter, Deborah (Vaughn) Henderson, grandson, Jed, granddaughter, Layne (Steven) Kangas, and great-grandsons, Jorryn, Zane, and Shay, brother, James (Wanda) Black, and in-laws, Peg Wollet, Beverly and Owen Phillips, and Tom and June Brewer, as well as numerous, dear nieces and nephews.
