Shamrock Boys lose to Fowler


On Tuesday, December 17th the St. Patrick's boys basketball team traveled to Fowler for a game with the Eagles. Despite playing well defensively, the Shamrocks were unable to keep up with Fowler and lost 45-24. In the first quarter, the Shamrocks started slow, and the Eagles jumped out to a 9-0 lead quickly. Tyler Coyne hit a three for the Shamrocks, and made the score 9-3 after one quarter of play. The second quarter brought more offense from the Shamrocks, but the Eagles still were able to extend their lead, winning the quarter 12-11. Connor Cross led the Shamrocks, scoring 8, and Evan Schrauben and John Schneider put in the other 3. This left the score 21-14 at halftime. The third quarter brought out great defense by the Eagles, and poor shooting from the Shamrocks, with Fowler holding St. Patrick's to only two points in the quarter, while scoring 13. This left the Eagles ahead by quite a bit, leading 34-16 after three quarters of play. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles continued to outscore the Shamrocks, winning the quarter 11-8. The Shamrocks had balanced scoring in this quarter with Tyler Coyne and Connor Cross both putting in three points, and Ryan Lay scoring two. Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Connor Cross with 11 points 7 rebounds and 2 assists, and Tyler Coyne with 6 points and 2 rebounds and Ryan Lay with 4 points and 6 rebounds. The Shamrocks play against Dansville at home on Thursday, December 18th at 7:00 pm.
