Many bargain seekers thrive on the great prices of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but on this Saturday after Thanksgiving, don’t forget to shop local on Small Business Saturday.

Originally started by American Express in 2010, this is a day to focus on small brick and mortar shops in your community instead of shopping online or at big box retailers.

According to the Small Business Administration, Small Business Saturday is “a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities.”

The image at the top of this story is from the Mi Portland Downtown Facebook page and lists several local business offering specials for the event.
