"Victory for Veterans" Game Raises $4,000 for Local Veteran Relief

Portland Varsity Football Coach John Novara recently presented VFW Post #4090 with a check for $4,000.00. This was monies collected and raised from the annual Portland vs. Charlotte football game on September 20, "Victory for Veterans". VFW Post 4090, the Auxiliary and American Legion Post 129 participated in the September 20th event with the flag raising and ushering veterans and their families to the hospitality tent. Post Commander Bill Almy said, "The VFW Post would like to thank coach John Novara, his staff, athletic director Kevin Veale, the varsity cheerleaders and Portland High School for honoring all military veterans with the September 20 event. We appreciate the hard work coach Novara put into this event and look forward to future events with PHS and the community." "The money received from this event will be deposited into our post Veterans Relief Fund."
