Local Woman Grateful to Portland First Responders

Portland resident Karen Sherman recently had a medical emergency. Sherman went into cardiac arrest on Sept 7th. She expressed her sincere gratitude to Portland's first responders in a Facebook post that she asked us to share with Beacon readers.
The post from September 13th said, “I want to assure the people of Portland that you have amazing first responders. Thanks to my husband and the first responders, I am alive today so i can continue to love and enjoy my family and friends. While sitting on our couch watching TV Saturday night, I had cardiac arrest with no prior warning. My retired Corrections Warden started CPR and called 911. The Portland Police arrived first and used the paddles. The EMTs arrived and began bagging me as they loaded me in the ambulance. On Tuesday I had a defibrillator implanted in my chest and am so appreciative of all the efforts made so I can continue to love and enjoy my beautiful family and friends. Portland First Responders... YOU ARE THE BEST. Hugs to all of you.”
