Raider Tennis Over Lansing Catholic 6-2
Portland played their first league meet at Lansing Catholic Wednesday night. Every single match was close throughout the night and three of the matches went to a 3rd set. We ended up winning 6-2 but it easily could have gone the other way. I've been stressing to the team all season long that consistency is the key to winning tennis matches. The first signs of that paying off showed tonight. I thought the players on both teams were pretty evenly matched. We didn't win it by hitting better shots. We just managed to keep that one more ball in play. Jorgen Sonday exemplified this. He may have just barely lost his match, but boy did he keep one more ball in play. (For about 2 hours and 45 minutes.) Portland will play again in their last quad of the year Saturday at home.
