Jalon Simpson Wins 2019 NAIA National Championship in Javelin

Olivet Nazarene University Junior and Portland High School alum Jalon Simpson has won the NAIA National Championship in Men’s Javelin. Simpson finished first in the finals iith a throw of 70.99 meters.

The NAIA 68th Annaul Men’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships are occurring this week Thursday through Saturday at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Simpson finished 2nd in Nationals in 2018 with a throw of 65.13m (213' 8").

Simpson is a Junior at Olivet Nazarene University, located in Bourbonnais, Illinois. In addition to being a member or track and field teams, Simpson is also a linebacker for the Tiger football program.

Simpson graduated from PHS in 2016 and is majoring in Sports Management. Other honors he has received at ONU include 2017 NAIA All-American (4th), #1 Freshman in the NAIA, and CCAC Conference Champion.

Jalon is the son of Bart and Lynn Simpson.
