St. Patrick's baseball stomps the Fowler Eagles
On Monday, May 6th the Fowler Eagles visited Portland for a CMAC showdown with the undefeated Portland St. Patrick's Shamrocks. The Shamrocks showed why they are the #1 team in the state with a strong showing, defeating the Eagles 11-1 and 8-0.
In the first game, Nathan Lehnert pitched the whole game. Throwing for 5 innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Offensive leaders were Brandon Scheurer who went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a double, Sam Mauren and Ryan Lay also both went 2 for 2.
In the second game, Sam Mauren picked up the win on the mound, throwing for 4 innings, giving up 3 hits, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Offensive leaders were Nathan Lehnert who went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and 1 Walk, Connor Cross who went 2 for 3, and Evan Schrauben who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.
Coach Bryan Scheurer was pleased with another solid win against a perennial powerhouse. "This was a very solid doubleheader versus a tradionally strong program. We had great contributions from all 15 players. The team quality at bats is improving and on the rise every week. We have a doubleheader against Dansville, in Stockbridge on Thursday."
