Shamrock baseball wins Tournament in Lake Leelanau

The Shamrocks travelled to Lake Leelanau for a tournament on Saturday, May 4th. The Shamrocks played very solid and ended up going 2-0 and winning the tournament.
In game one, the Shamrocks matched up against perennial playoff contender Maple City Glen Lake. This game featured good defense and great pitching, but the Shamrocks were just too strong and ended up winning 9-5. Tanner Lawson started off on the mound, pitching for 2.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 7. Brandon Scheurer relieved him for the win, striking out 2. Offensive leaders were Brandon Scheurer who went 2 for 2, with 1 walk and 3 RBI's, and Ryan Lay who went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI.
In the second game, the Shamrocks were matched up with Hale for the Championship game. The Shamrocks left no doubt, winning the game 10-3. Connor Cross got the win on the mound, throwing for 2 innings, giving up 1 hit, 2 walks and striking out 3. Offensive leaders were Connor Cross who went 2 for 2 with 4 RBI's, and Brandon Scheurer who went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI and 1 walk.
Coach Bryan Scheurer was happy about the opportunity to play on a beautiful spring day against quality opponents. "This is a really cool tournament, great cause (cancer awareness and fundraiser). Lake Leelanau is a beautiful town, and the whole area is gorgeous. As always, our community was out strong in support. We are back home monday for a huge DH against league rival Fowler."
The Shamrocks host Fowler on Monday, May 6th for a CMAC matchup.
