Lady Raider Soccer vs Charlotte Orioles
Girls Soccer traveled to Charlotte Wednesday to finish up CAAC White league play. JV took the field first and wasted no time putting 2 goals in the net before the end of the first half. Playing hard and moving the ball around the field they were able to secure a 3-1 win. Molly Johnson had all three goals for the Raiders. Portland Girls Varsity Soccer toke the field after JV in what turned out to be a very close and well fought game to the very end. Losing 0-1 for the second part of the first half the Raiders continue to press hard on the goal getting a handful of opportunities to tie up the game. With less than a few minutes left on a breakaway Ashley Bower was able to squeeze a shot near post to tie up the game. The Raiders continued to press the second half looking for the opportunity to jump ahead of the Orioles. The Orioles were able to score in the last five minutes of play off a free kick just outside the penalty area. Final score of the game was 1-2. Varsity Soccer moves to 4-4 on the season and will open the Spring Sports Carnival this Saturday May 4th against Ithaca at 10am. JV Girls Soccer moves to 6-1 on the season and will continue play next Tuesday Home at 5pm against Stockbridge.
