St. Pat's Softball Defeats Potterville
The Lady Shamrocks visited Potterville for a CMAC matchup on Wednesday, April 17th. Despite starting a little slow, the Shamrocks finished with a roar, defeating the Vikings in the first game 12-2. The 2nd game was cancelled due to lightning.
The winning pitcher for the Shamrocks was Summer Russman who pitched 6 innings, 5 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Offensive leaders for St. Patrick were Ally Florian- 2 for 3, 1 triple, 3 RBI, Lydia Meredith- 2 for 3, 1 RBI, and Samantha Teachworth- 2 for 4, 2 doubles, 1 RBI.
Head Coach Jocelyn Rockey said, “Our first league contest started slow at the plate. Our girls are young and it takes us a little longer to adjust to pitchers and their style/ speed than it should. It’s something we are working diligently at during practice and we are finally seeing some of those transitions being made. Once we found our rhythm we really hit well, and ended at an even .400 during the game. We finally got to work with some of our small ball techniques and worked on strategy. Defensively, we are progressing and during this game we ended errorless which obviously is the goal. We covered ground, communicated on the field, and made some really great plays. Overall, our coaching staff is pleased with our performance this evening and hopes to continue this into our league games next week.”
The Shamrocks travel to Laingsburg next Wednesday.
