Lady Raider Softball Takes Two from Lansing Catholic

The Portland varsity softball team swept Lansing Catholic in a doubleheader last night by the score of 10 - 2 and 15 -4. In game one Portland scored their 10 runs on 15 hits and committed only two errors. The offense was led by Emma Johnson who went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and Sophia Novara who went 3 for 3. Natalie Linebaugh and Maria Krause each added two hit. Sophia Novara picked up her first win of the season giving up 2 hits striking out 7 and walking only two.
The Raiders took only 5 innings to defeat the Cougars by the mercy rule in the nightcap. The offense again came up big with 13 hits in the game. Top hitter for the game was Natalie Linebaugh who went 3 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Sophia Novara went went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, Emma Johnson went 2 for 3 with a double and Brooke Seal went 2 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBI’s. Sophie Novara picked up her second win of the day while recording 5 strikeouts.
The Raiders are now 5 - 2 for the season and take on Haslett Thursday in a non conference game.
