Both JV and Varsity Girls Soccer traveled to Battle Creek Penfield on Thursday to finish out the week in game play. JV girls took to the field first and wasted no time putting some goals in the back of the net leading 4-0 at halftime. They were able to keep the ball on Penfield's side for most of the second half and capitalized on three more goals to finish the game with a 7-0 win. Goals were scored by Mikenna Bayless. Leona Pung, Hannah Schrauben, Sami Rushin and Molly Johnson. Varsity took the field second and played a very competitive and close game with a very talented Penfield Varsity squad. The Raiders were down one goal early in the second half off a bad bounce on a corner kick. Play stayed very close with both sides having multiple opportunities to score. The Raiders ended the game with a 0-1 lost. Varsity Soccer stands at 2-1 on the season and the JV squad stands undefeated at 2-0. Varsity will host Maple Valley at home this coming Monday at 5:30 pm and will open conference play with Lansing Catholic Home on Wednesday.
