Lady Raider Bats Hot in Two Wins over PW
The Portland varsity softball team opened the season with two wins over Pewamo Westphalia featuring 31 hits and two home runs by Emma Johnson and another by Emma Selden. In the first game Portland defeated PW by the score of 12 - 8 behind a 17 hit attack. Leading hitters were Emma Johnson who went 3 for 3 with a home run and Jada Walton who went 3 for 5 with a triple. Sophie Novara, Natalie Linebaugh, Adrianna Novara and Brooke Seal each added two hits. Adrianna Novara picked up the win.
In game two the Raiders outscored the Pirates 13 - 6 on 14 hits in six innings. Emma Selden was the winning pitcher. Jada Walton led all hitters going 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI’s.
Selden and Johnson each had two hits with a home run. Other players with two hits in the game were Linebaugh, A Novara and Allison Summers.
The team's next scheduled contest is Thursday when they host Haslett.
