Obituary for John Barry Peckins

John Barry Peckins, 70, of Lyons, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019. He was born in Ionia on April 10, 1948, the son of Francis and Dolores (Barry) Peckins. John was a lifelong dairy farmer and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, camping, antique tractor shows, long rides in the country, and spending his winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Preceding John in death are his parents and son-in-law, Denny Leik. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary; children, Michael (April) Peckins of Lyons, Shelly (Craig) Corbeil of Lyons, Melissa (Cory) Ackerson of Mulliken, and Amanda Leik of Lyons; grandchildren, Tim, Noah, Meagen, and Cheyenne Peckins, Reid and Clara Corbeil, Ethan and Cora Ackerson, Kelsey, Emily, and Elaine Leik; great-grandchildren, Dallas and Colton; and siblings, Fran (Les) Linsemier, Jim Peckins, and Joe (Marilyn) Peckins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.
