Ionia Community Theatre Presents: ‘Legally Blonde: The musical’
Ionia Community Theatre brings the adored movie gone musical to stage as they perform “Legally Blonde: The Musical” on March 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7pm. Sunday matinees are at 2pm.
This romantic comedy is vibrant, energetic, and fun which is part of the reason Amanda Hall jumped on board to produce the hit show. The color theme and strong Ionia community also played a part.
“Pink is my favorite color and that doesn’t hurt. The people in Ionia have always brought me in with open arms. I have always been a director and recently joined the ICT board. It’s like a family and every show I am involved in makes it incredibly harder to wrap. Producing is vigorous and intense, but so is every other position from actor to light design. I am eternally grateful to be part of this production.”
“Legally Blonde” introduces us to Elle Woods (Marley Camacho), a ravishing sorority president and calendar girl. With her wealthy East Coast blue blood boyfriend Warner Huntington III (Eric Proctor) she is a hit on the campus of UCLA. Concerned about his future and what others will think, Warner dumps Elle before heading off to Harvard Law School.
Sharing the stage and helping Elle show everyone she is no dummy is the helpful, forgiving, and genius-level intellectual Emmett Forrest (Jeremiah Souza).
Camacho has been with ICT for 11 years now serving as the board vice president. She looks forward to showing people the entertaining songs that aren’t part of the movie.
“I love that this show is based on a well-known movie so people should be familiar with the storyline but it has brand new songs that are absolutely fantastic and entertaining. We are also performing at the historic downtown Ionia Theater and ICT loves to team up with other businesses in the community to bring shows to our audience.”
Make it a date night or a good time out with friends and come out to the Ionia Theater and watch Elle prove it’s about character and what’s between the ears, not just superficial looks, to achieve your dreams.
