Raiders Fall at Lansing Catholic 78-57
Owen Russell scored 20 and Aryan Virk contributed 17 as the Raiders dropped their third game in four days at Lansing Catholic on Monday night. Portland trailed 22-18 at the end of the first quarter. Virk had a hot hand in the quarter connecting for 12 points.
LC began to pull away in the second quarter and led 45-33 at the half.
They increased their lead get to 69-50 by the end of the third. The Cougars, who are now 13-6 on the year, were led in scoring by Nylander, Sow and Risner who scored 16,16, and 14 respectively.
Portland Coach Dave Pettit said after the game, “Owen and Aryan shot the ball well which is good for us. We did some really good things, but LC really dominated the rebounding and killed us on second chance points. They (also) made us play fast which caused us to turn it over too many times.”
Portland finishes out the season on Friday with a trip to the Charlotte Orioles. Then on Monday will open district play at home against Lansing Sexton. The District is being hosted by Portland and also includes Ionia, Lakewood Lake Odessa, Lansing Eastern, and Lansing Catholic.
