The Fowler Eagles visited Portland to take on the St. Patrick's Shamrocks on Friday, February 1st. The Shamrocks were rusty after beings cooped up during the blizzard, and fell hard to the Eagles 51-26.

In the 1st quarter, the Eagles jumped out right on the Shamrocks, winning the quarter 18-9. The bulk of the Shamrock scoring was from Mara Schrauben and Samee Teachworth down low.

The 2nd quarter saw the Eagles clamp down defensively, only allowing the Shamrocks to score 4 points. Fowler ended up extending their lead, winning the quarter 15-4 and taking a 33-13 at halftime.

After the half, neither offensive was able to get much going, but the Fowler Eagles still won the quarter, 12-7.

The final quarter featured a defensive struggle, with the Eagles winning the quarter 6-5.

Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Mara Schrauben with 10 points 11 rebounds 1 assist and 1 steal, Samee Teachworth had 5 points 5 rebounds 1 block, and Lydia Meredith had 2 points 3 steals 4 rebounds 1 assist and 1 block.

Coach Al Schrauben was less than thrilled about his team’s performance. "Fowler played well, us not so much!"

St. Patricks girls play next Monday, February 4th at Fulton.
