Obituary for Eloise Carolyn Gilbert
Eloise Carolyn Gilbert, of Portland, passed away surrounded by her family on January 17, 2019 at the age of 91. She was born on October 13, 1927 in Portland (Orange Township), the daughter of Frank and Mary (Pline) Fandel. Eloise was a beautician who worked out of her home for 65 plus years. Our mom was a very social person who enjoyed the company of people. She loved to play cards, travel, and most of all “the daily happy hour”. She held a special place in her heart for her 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by sons, Steve (Kathy) Gilbert, Terry (Phyllis) Gilbert, Jeff (Jean) Gilbert, and Scott (Shawn) Gilbert. She is also survived by her lifelong “best buddy”, sister, Mae Lehman. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jack Gilbert; brothers, Christy (Helen) Fandel and Hubert Fandel; and sister, Annabelle (Louis) Werner.
Special “thanks” to the Robert Hoppes family for all of their kindness they have shown through the years.
