St. John’s Redwings defeat Portland Boys 53-43
The Portland Boys’ Basketball team visited St. John’s tonight without the services of starting Jr. Forward David Svanda and, in spite of Aryan Virk’s 17 points, came up short losing to the Redwings who improved their season record to 2-7.
The Raider’s scored only 1 point in the first quarter, a free throw by Sr. Tate Dziewiatkowski. The Redwings also had a slow first quarter, scoring only 5 points. But, they led 22-21 at the half. In the third quarter the Redwings outscored the Raiders 17-10 and then 14-12 in the fourth quarter.
Virk was the only Raider to score in double figures. St. Johns was led by Seniors K. Thomas and C. Thomas who each scored 10 points in tonight’s game.
The Raiders fell to 2-6 on the year and will visit Eaton Rapids for a 6:00 PM tip-off on Friday.
