Obituary for Luke Alan Hoppes

Luke Alan Hoppes, age 50, of Lyons, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018. He was born June 27, 1968 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Stanley and Joan (Weber) Hoppes. Luke was a devoted employee at General Motors and he knew his way around the shop quite well. He enjoyed raising cows, beekeeping, and riding around in his truck. He was extremely proud of his daughters and their achievements in school and sports, especially swimming.

Preceding Luke in death are his parents and father-in-law, Robert Cook. Luke is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughters, Katherine and Valerie; siblings, Roxanne Burnham, Denise Hoppes, Michael (Cindy) Hoppes, Pat (Dora) Hoppes; mother-in-law, Helen Cook, brothers and sister-in-law, Bruce (Carie) Cook, Steve Cook, and Susan (Jim) Nurenberg; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Mike Alber on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The rosaries will be prayed on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
