Raider Girls Bowling Team Has High Expectations for Season
The Portland High School Girls Bowling team had a successful season in 2017-2018. The girls finished 8-2 in the CAAC Blue Division, and were conference and regional champions.
The team features a wealth of returning talent in seniors Emma Armour, Kaylee Becker, Jordyn Fyan, and Sammi Krausz, along with junior Aubree Martin. Newcomers Junior Olivia Galt and Freshmen Jessie Whitford are highly skilled and will likely have a strong impact on the team.
Coach Joe Whitford has coaches bowling for over 20 years, and has been Portland’s Head Coach for six years. Whitford has also been the Assistant Bowling Coach at Cornerstone University for two seasons.
As for his outlook for the season, Whitford said, “This group of bowlers are all capable of bowling a 200 game. With this team’s talent, I see an undefeated team that will win the CAAC Blue Division, win regionals and do very well at states. With at least 3-4 making it to States. It will be an excellent and exciting year!”
