A dramatic photo-finish in the Women’s Cross-Country race at P-W lifted the Pirates to a 1-point win over Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills on Wednesday. P-W Sophomore Sophie Thelen narrowly edged two runners, one from Perry and the other from Fowler, at the wire by less than one second to give the P-W Women a 36 to 37 victory.

Portland’s Women’s team placed 6th while Portland St. Patrick’s Women’s team placed 7th. The Portland women were led by Ari Babcock who finished the 5K course at Huckleberry Creek Golf Course in 23 minutes and 2 seconds. She was followed by teammates Amber Cross (24:56); Alaina Volk (25:19); Rylee Brownell (28:35); and Teaghan Lathers (29:13).
