Local Teams Represent Portland Well in Summer Fest Baseball Tournament
One of the many exciting events included in Summer Fest 2018 was the youth baseball tournament. With age divisions from 9U to 13U, the tournament included a total of 51 teams from across Michigan.
Games were held at Father Flohe Field, The Wagon Wheel, the Knights of Columbus Hall, the Bogue Flats and Powers Park.
Here is a look a three of the local teams who competed.
The 9U Portland Scrappers went 3-1 at Summer Fest and were knocked in the semifinal game on Sunday. The team wishes to thank PFCU for graciously sponsoring their Summer Fest entry fee.

The 12U Portland Raiders lost 8-7 to Grand Ledge in the semifinal game. Coach Dean McGregor said. “Grand Ledge went on to win the tournament against P-W. We played the same Grand Ledge team the night before and ended in a tie 1-1 after one extra inning. Kids played hard and never gave up. Very proud of how they played and competed.”
