Raider Softball Falls to Swartz Creek
The Portland varsity softball dropped a single game to a very tough Swartz Creek team on Monday by the score of 5 – 4.
The score was 0 – 0 going into the bottom of the 4th when the dragons scored two. Portland answered with one in the 5th and Swartz Creek added another in the bottom of the inning. Both teams were unable to score in the 6th and then Portland put up 3 in the top of the 7th to go ahead but Swartz Creek answered with two more for the 5 – 4 win.
The leading hitter for Portland was Taylor Trieweiler who went 2 – 3. Ella Gardner had a clutch double that drove in two runs in the seventh inning.
Portland is now 21 – 11 and will take on the Alma Panthers at 10:00 Saturday at Alma in District play.
